1. Welcome

Smile Research LLC ('we', 'us', 'our') provides software that uses AI and image analysis to produce an appearance rating of your smile's photogenic qualities, and lets you generate a shareable Smile Grading Card. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. We use cookies to keep you signed in and to run the site. See our Privacy Policy.

2. Appearance reference, not medical or dental advice

Smile Research results are an appearance reference only. The service is not a medical device, is not a diagnostic tool, and does not provide dental, orthodontic, or medical advice. Grades, scores, and comments are generated by automated analysis and/or AI models and can be inaccurate, biased, or inconsistent. Do not use our results as a substitute for professional advice. Always consult a licensed dentist or physician for any question about your teeth, gums, or health.

3. Who can use this app

• You must be 18 or over to create an account and use this service.
• You confirm you are 18 or over before your first assessment. You must only upload photos of your own face and smile, never of a child or of anyone else without their explicit consent.

4. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Let us know immediately at contact@smileresearch.org if you suspect unauthorized use.

5. Your photos and content

You keep ownership of the photos you upload. By uploading, you grant us a limited licence to store and process them solely to run the assessment, generate your result and certificate, and provide the service to you. We do not sell your photos, and we do not use them to train AI models or feature them publicly unless you explicitly opt in during onboarding. See our Privacy Policy for the full photo usage policy. You can delete assessment photos in the app from your result. They are hidden at once. We keep a copy for up to 30 days so we can restore it if you email contact@smileresearch.org. After that the file is permanently removed.

6. Subscriptions & certificates

Some features, such as the full Tier 2 assessment and verifiable certificate, require a paid subscription. Pricing, billing terms, and cancellation details are shown at the point of purchase. Certificates and Smile Grading Cards issued by Smile Research are shareable digital credentials for appearance. They are not an officially recognised dental, medical, or academic qualification of any kind.

7. Acceptable use

• Do not upload illegal or abusive content, or someone else's photos without consent.
• Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the service or its AI models.
• Do not use the service to harass, bully, or misrepresent yourself as a licensed professional.

8. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided 'as is' without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Smile Research LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including decisions made based on your results.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
